Providing individual clients with appropriate guidance on local services and forums for support. Promoting inclusive employment and disability confident practice with employers. Inspiring and raising employment aspirations of clients with disabilities.

**Responsibilities**:
The Employment Specialist will be expected to split their time between generating and assessing suitable referrals and addressing the barriers of participants The ES will be responsible for:

- Working collaboratively with Work Coaches and Disability Employment Advisers (DEAs) to support the referral process by identifying potential customers
- Providing insight into the issues many disabled people face in finding and securing employment
- Supporting the delivery of introductory meetings, providing an overview of the benefits of the employment support programme
- Providing face-to-face independent advice and guidance for job seekers and signposting to specialist support services when suitable
- Raising awareness of the support available to individuals such as Access to Work.

Maintain petty cash records for approved participant expenses such as bus fares and submit accurate receipts and records monthly While addressing barriers the ES will be responsible for:

- Supporting participants to identify barriers, manage health conditions and to overcome barriers
- Working with and inspiring participants to identify training needs, improving self-confidence and motivation
- Developing personal goals, objectives and action plans for participants to work towards
- Arranging one-to-one support with specialist advisors, mentors, coaching and/or training to build basic skills and improve confidence levels in preparation for work
- Arranging financial management advice including welfare benefits to support the move into employment
- Developing partnerships with community groups to provide awareness sessions on activities and support available
- Signposting individuals to agencies and community forums to raise awareness of support services and entitlements
- Raising awareness and supporting individuals to use Access to Work services

**Working with local employers, the ES will**:

- Develop and build links with local training and volunteering organisations
- Secure job tasters, work placements or volunteering opportunities for participants to enable participants to gain work experience.
- To work flexible hours in various locations in order to meet the needs of individual job seekers
- To liaise, as necessary with, parents, carers, employers, service providers etc. in consultation with the Manager
- To be aware of benefits, disability and health and safety issues
- To undertake learning and development as identified through regular appraisals and reviews in line with NE-AS policies and procedures.
- To adhere to NE-AS policies and procedures, and to promote the Charity’s aims and objectives
- To carry out other duties as deemed appropriate to the post by the Manager Assessments and Reports
- To ensure that initial and multi-disciplinary assessment provides an accurate basis to plan an appropriate programme for all clients
- To ensure quality standards are maintained at all times in readiness for announced / unannounced inspections by both internal and external bodies
- Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the workplace General Duties
- Ensure that safe working practices are followed in respect of COSHH and other Risk Assessment control measures.
- Ensure administration tasks related to project compliance are completed in a timely and accurate manner
