The Acute Therapy Team at the front door is expanding

The team is well established, comprising of OTs, Physios, Dietitians, Speech and Language Therapists and Therapy Support Workers who work across ED, SDMA and AMU to avoid admissions and facilitate flow and timely discharges.

Due to the opening of a Same Day Emergency Care/Frailty Unit with the provision of an extended hours service 8am - 8pm over 7-days, the establishment of a Frailty pathway from ED to ward and expansion to the current therapy teams in ED it has resulted in the funding for these exciting new posts.

Funding is secured for the SDEC/Frailty Unit until March 2023, if funding does not continue after March 23 these new posts will continue to be supported within the acute therapy service at RCHT.

If you are a Dietitian with established assessment and decision making skills and want to be part of an expanding team, in a Trust with a focus on staff development and wellbeing whilst providing quality care to our community then this is the job for you.

Flexible and part time working will also be considered. All posts will be permanent.

To work as a senior autonomous practitioner providing dietetic support and advice for patients in the Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), their carers and health professionals delivering a service to these patients.

To contribute to policy development.

To develop appropriate resources as required.

To help to support and/or establish Research and Development and a robust Audit review of the Nutrition and Dietetic service

Cornwall is famed for its world renowned beaches which make it a surfing haven in the UK as well as one of the leading holiday destinations in the UK. With castle ruins and old tin mines dotted throughout the county, the history in Cornwall is something that is to be celebrated alongside the changing scenery and local produce. We are also just a short flight or boat journey away from the stunning Isles of Scilly. Come and work for the NHS in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

We can offer you opportunities to engage in research, training, coaching and career development. We have links to the local higher education institutions, and have also developed local learning opportunities. In particular, we offer an excellent ‘AHP Future Leaders Programme’, which has been praised by Suzanne Rastrick, Chief AHP Officer.

Sustainability is integral to the Trust achieving the NHS Net Zero target. All staff are therefore actively encouraged and supported to implement new ways of working within their field of expertise.

To deliver a complex and high-quality evidence based nutrition and dietetic service to patients referred from the Emergency Department and SDEC.

To provide cover to inpatients and outpatients in a variety of medical and surgical specialities referred to the Acute Dietetic Team when necessary

To be responsible for nutrition and dietetic participation in multi-professional groups and contribute to policy making as directed by the head of service
