**Why join Suffolk County Council as a Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW)?**
‘’ I am a newly qualified social worker (NQSW) at Suffolk and completing my ASYE year in a child in need team. Something that has really stood out for me is Suffolk ability to be organised, and make you feel as though you are part of the team from the day you accept that job offer. My manager and supervisor are individuals who I would describe as extremely experienced, nurturing, and approachable. Both of which have provided oversight on cases I have been allocated and supported me to develop my practice throughout this time. I think some NQSWs may feel hesitant surrounding completing their ASYE year in a children/child in need team due to worries of unmanageable expectations etc. However, I feel Suffolk provide a structured ASYE programme, with fantastic learning opportunities, and manageable caseloads that allow you to feel safe in your practice yet feel challenged. Also, one which supports you to succeed and gain a high level of experience in your first year as a qualified social worker. I could not recommend the ASYE programme with Suffolk to anyone enough’’.
**Our Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS) are actively looking to recruit flexible, highly motivated, and enthusiastic NQSWs to join teams across Suffolk who share the same commitment, dedication, care, and support as we do.**
We recognise that good quality health, safety and wellbeing is integral to a healthy work-life balance, and we are proud to have created a positive environment where Social Workers can achieve meaningful and impactful outcomes.
Joining Suffolk as an NQSW you will have the commitment and full support from our management team and colleagues within the service to ensure you achieve your goals and get the best out of your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).
You will also have protected development and time for reflection, regular supervision with your Practice Manager, including ongoing CPD and PDP to enable professional growth and a reduced caseload (from 15 cases in the first 6 months).
In addition, Suffolk Social Care provide clinical supervision by a seasoned professional. This does not only benefit your personal wellbeing but directly affects the experience of the children and young people within our care.
