The Teaching Assistant will be working in a busy special educational needs school. The role is varied and fast paced so you will need to be adaptable. You will be dealing with children, parents and other professionals so a friendly, can do and professional attitude is a must.

**What will the apprentice be doing?**
- Support children’s learning in a positive manner.
- Work with individuals or groups of pupils in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff and be able to provide feedback to the class teacher.
- Support pupils to understand instructions and support independent learning.
- Attend Proact training to support positive behaviour management and be able to implement strategies.
- Support pupils social and emotional well-being.
- Prepare work, this may include online distance learning
- Preparation of resources and be able to maintain a clear and uncluttered learning environment.
- Independently undertake tasks including photocopying, filing and the display and presentation of pupil’s work.
- Undertake lunch duties, playground duties and before/after school duties including facilitating games and activities
- Invigilate exams and tests.
- Assist pupil’s hygiene routines as required, this may include personal care and toilet training whilst encouraging independence.
- Attend Professional Development meetings - these will be specified within your contract of employment
- Record basic pupil data.
- Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person and undertake all relevant training.
- Any other duties or tasks appropriate to the grade of the post assigned by the Headteacher
- Support children’s learning through play
- Assist with escorting pupils on educational visits
- Support pupils social and emotional well-being.
- Be a positive role model.
- Awareness of Data Protection and confidentiality issues
- Have an awareness of the need to work within national legislation and school policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety

Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship standard:

- English and maths functional skills at level 2 if required
- Preparation for End Point Assessment
- Work based and tutor supported online training

**What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?**
- Potential employment should there be a suitable vacancy and funding available.

**Annual wage**

£14,810.25

Please note that your initial hourly rate will be £7.75 per hour. As this is a term time only position, you will receive a pro-rata amount of the advertised annual salary.

**Working week**

8.30-3.30 Monday-Friday. 10 x 1 hour development meetings. Term time only. 4 hours paid study time outside working hours. As this is a term time only position, you will receive a pro-rata amount of the advertised annual salary.

Total hours per week: 36.75 hours a week
