Summary

We would like to extend a warm welcome from all pupils, staff, governors and trustees of Rhyddings.
Rhyddings serves the East Lancashire old mill town of Oswaldtwistle and surrounding area of Hyndburn. It has been at the heart of the community for 90 years and although a smaller than average high school we cater for pupils from a diverse range of backgrounds.
The school enjoys good transport links via the M65 corridor and adjoining networks of M6 and M66.
The school has been in a period of transition, having returned to our permanent site following a £10 Million re-development, back in the heart of our community, and establishing a more normal return to school following the pandemic.
The is a vacancy due to the planned retirement of the current post holder.
We are seeking, as part of the LET Education Trust, to appoint a Pastoral Year Leader to our strong Pastoral Team.
Our Pastoral Team is a dedicated, mutually supportive and hardworking group of professionals who support the pupils holistically in their social, emotional, academic and wellbeing development.
This often extends to working with and supporting their families in wrap around care.
Teaching staff and pastoral colleagues work together closely in making sure any barriers to learning are identified and well supported.
The role of the Pastoral Year Leader is at the centre of managing all aspects of their cohort along with their team of form tutors, who are teaching staff.
The focus is on setting the standards and expectations we demand as a school and making our culture and ethos, underpinned by the Rhyddings Way values and 4R’s - Ready, Respectful, Responsible & Resilient, create a kind, purposeful environment, where all pupils can flourish. Leading assemblies, addressing the year group collectively, as well as 1:1 support, small group work and monitoring pupil behaviour, Attitude to Learning and interventions, forms the majority of the daily duties.
Year Leaders are expected to work with outside agencies and make home visits to ensure families and pupils are well supported to overcome the barriers they may face.
