**Logistics Assistant - Commodities**

**Central London - office-based position**

**Monday to Friday**

MVP is partnering with a well-established, successful and growing commodities trading business who are currently seeking to appoint a proactive Logistics Assistant to join its dedicated, friendly team at its offices in central London.

In this role, you will co-ordinate the effective transport and storage of commodities, focusing on movements within the UK and Europe. You’ll plan and schedule transport and deliveries for customer orders across the UK and Europe, working closely with colleaguesacross the business to ensure an efficient, accurate and cost-effective service.

**What you’ll do**:

- Work in partnership with customers and third parties to accurately plan shipments and delivery schedules to optimize stock rotation and ensure agreed customer delivery dates are met
- Plan vehicle routes in line with cost, seasonal changes and other factors impacting transport
- Work with an established haulier base, developing relationships to ensure competitiveness
- Arrange collections and deliveries for all inbound and outbound vehicles in the most cost-efficient manner
- Continually look to improve and develop business performance within legislative constraints, fuel costs and environmental pressures
- Execute Purchase and Sale contracts
- Manage stocks across multiple warehouse locations, reconcile on a daily basis

**Qualifications, Experience & Skills - you will need the following**:

- Previous experience of working within a logistics/transport operation within a distribution environment
- Experience and knowledge of logistics processes and procedures - both UK and European
- Strong IT skills and experience - competent with learning new systems
- Excellent communication skills, able to interact effectively at all levels within a business
- Skilled at working collaboratively
- Really strong attention to detail
- Able to be self-motivated and to work under pressure to achieve results
- Commercially focused and able to spot and react to opportunities
- A second European language would be a bonus
