ESS Recruit’s client is based in Livingston. Well established, they are a high technology equipment supplier into a range of sectors, including, medical devices, electronics and oil and gas. Currently enjoying a period of high growth, they need to make the key hire of a Buyer as part of a major expansion.

Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, the Senior Buyer will take responsibility for the purchase and supplier management of a range of electro-mechanical and machined products as well as assisting the Purchasing Manager in running the department on a day-to-day basis. This person will be expected to interface and help manage other procurement professionals across the group and work closely with colleagues in Production. The role is to source the correct products at the right time and price in line with Manufacturing requirement and approved requests, considering market influences, stock control and logistics. Other core responsibilities include:

- To source, procure, negotiate, and administer cost effective purchase (to specification, on time at best pricing) of all components and supplies.
- To maintain database of orders, products, components, suppliers, and costs.
- To develop and maintain appropriate ‘terms and conditions’ for all procurements.
- To progress orders to ensure correct on-time delivery.
- To develop and maintain key suppliers and monitor performance.
- To maintain and control stocks at cost-effective levels using MRP system. To assist purchasing manager in managing the purchasing department on a day-to-day basis
- To Assist Purchasing Manager in generation and management of Department Metrics
- To Deputise for Purchasing Manager when required
- To Pro-actively drive process improvements within the department
- To act on purchasing reports from MRP system
- To ensure purchasing system complies with Company operating procedures.
- Always maintain best working practices in line with Health and Safety policy guidelines.
