In the role of Deputy Head of Purchasing you will manage and support a team with a range of procurement related responsibilities including Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Saint Mary’s Hospital, Manchester and Trafford Local Care Organisations and Corporate functions across MFT. The post holder will also provide direct support to our Clinical and Scientific Services Division which encompasses a diverse array of Managed Clinical Services across our organisation including Imaging, Pharmacy, Anaesthetics and Critical Care, Laboratory Medicine and Allied Health Professions.

- Add value and reduce waste via savings/cost avoidances.

The role provides a valuable level of support to senior colleagues as you contribute to a designated Hospital Group / Managed Clinical Service or Category Purchasing portfolio and take on individual projects. From seeking out savings that will contribute to performance targets, to providing data analysis that will enable better procurement decisions to be made, you will take on a wide range of duties and no two days will be the same.

We are currently operating a hybrid working arrangement with a mix of office and home working currently in place.

As you will need to take responsibility for procedural compliance and team leadership, you will need to have substantial strategic purchasing management experience within a private or public sector organisation including the management of a team. Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) or with a committed plan to achieving full membership is essential to the role. It would be beneficial (though isn’t strictly necessary) to have some knowledge of clinical product procurement or capital equipment procurement within the NHS. Crucially, you will have exceptional communication and partnership skills, with the capacity to work directly with clinical stakeholders and procurement and supply chain colleagues.
