**The work split required is 3 days per week, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8.30am-4pm. The occasional weekend working may be required.**

**Overall purpose of the post**

To:

- Work as part of the Oakfield Staff Team helping to provide a safe, efficient, organised and stimulating environment within which all individuals can live and work.
- To support the Care Farm Manager to ensure all Oakfield Seed-to-Plate and and Care Farm Project sessions are prepared, organised and delivered to a high standard. These sessions aim to leave attendees with a connection with nature, improving mental and physical health.
- To support the Care Farm Manager in the general housekeeping of animals, gardening and other general maintenance to create a safe and stimulating environment for guests, in line with the ethos of Oakfield Community.

**Responsibilities**

To:

- Work within the routine of Care Farm maintenance suggested by the Care Farm Manager.
- Ensure the wellbeing of the on-site animals, including feeding, housekeeping and other general maintenance.
- Working with the Care Farm Manager to develop creative sessions for the Seed-to-Plate Project and Care Farm Project, within a budget and timescale and catered to a desired audience such as adults with learning disabilities, those with a mental health diagnosis or those retired.
- Keeping the Easton Maudit Care Farm site safe and clean for attendees, including gardens and poly tunnels.
- Assist in the setting up, running and clear up of sessions and events.
- Designing and creating hand-made goods at sessions, such as bird boxes and seed tampers, to be sold at Oakfield’s Charity Events.
- Regularly report to and support the Care Farm Manager as required.
- Demonstrate awareness and understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behavioural, physical, social and welfare needs.
- Ensure that reasonable care is always taken for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and other persons, and to comply with the legislation, policies and procedures relating to health and safety, staff training and supervision within the organisation.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION - CARE FARM ASSISTANT**

**Education and Qualifications**
**Essential Criteria**:
Satisfactory clearance of an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate.
Literate and numerate, having attained a good level of education.

**Desirable Criteria**
Qualifications based around animal keeping.
Health and social care qualifications.

**Experience and Knowledge**
**Essential Criteria**:
Experience, knowledge or interest working with animals, gardening and in nature.

**Desirable Criteria**:
Experience working in a health and social care setting.
Experience of leading and supporting indoor and outdoor learning activities.
Experience working with adults with learning disabilities.

**Ability and Skills**
**Essential Criteria**:
Good level of interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to prioritise daily demands and workload.
Understand and respect confidentiality.
Work effectively with a wide variety of people.
Be a confident communicator and diplomat to balance conflicting demands for time/money.
