An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Renal team, based at the Royal Liverpool Hospital as a Renal Clinical Fellow for 6 months.

This is a novel hybrid job with 60% of the time committed to clinical duties on renal ward and the remaining 40% working with the departmental research lead on a renal research project.

This post is suited for motivated and able trainees who might be interested in renal or a related specialty as a career option and want to get more exposure to different aspects of the specialty, including an introduction to research.

The post holder will have 60% of the time committed to clinical duties covering inpatient and specialist clinics. It is envisaged that the post-holder will do ward rounds in the regional renal acute care unit. The following patient problems will be reviewed regularly:
General Nephrology

Acute Kidney Injury

Glomerulonephritis and Vasculitis

Chronic Renal Failure Haemodialysis

CAPD and APD

Renal Transplantation

There are consultant led ward rounds every day including weekends.

**On Call**: There could be a potential for the post holder to take part in nephrology on call rota, currently 1:8 with supervision of on call Nephrology Consultant. RLUH renal unit provide regional renal service and also covers Warrington, Halton, Southport and St Helen areas. There is hand over meeting on following morning (usually 9 AM) where all the new patients from the take are discussed. It is expected that the applicant is competent in temporary necklines and femoral lines insertion, Native renal biopsy Renal US TEACHING There are regular teaching sessions per week including journal club, and regular regional renal teaching.

This Clinical Fellow (SpR grade) post is in Nephrology. The post holder will be working at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a less than full time role with 60% of the time committed to clinical duties on renal ward and specialist clinics.

This post is suited for motivated and able trainees who might be interested in working in a tertiary setting with a view to getting exposure of specialist nephrology Clinics. The post will cover training in all aspects of Nephrology i.e Haemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, Glomerulonephritis, Vasculitis, General Nephrology and Renal Transplantation.

The Regional Renal Unit at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provide care for all aspects of Nephrology. There are approximately 40-50 patients per month with Acute Kidney Injury, 500 patients on haemodialysis through a hospital-based Haemodialysis Unit and 6 satellite dialysis units. Approximately 80 patients are on peritoneal dialysis (CAPD or APD), 50 patients on home haemodialysis and greater than 800 patients with functioning renal transplant. The Transplant unit at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust performs about 100 renal transplants each year.

The post attracts up to 7 days study leave each year. There are strong links within the University of Liverpool and Mersey Kidney Research, a locally sponsored kidney charity. The department has access to the laboratories and other facilities in the University Departments of Medicine, Clinical Chemistry and Immunology. Strong links also exist with other University Departments especially Pathology, Nuclear Medicine and Radiology including MR imaging. There are also regular MDT meetings including X ray, biopsy, and other departmental meetings.

Liverpool and Merseyside are the centres of much cultural, artistic and sporting activity. Pleasant suburbs with good schools are found in South Liverpool and Wirral where access to Liverpool C
