Position: Casual Dance Instructor & Music Tutor
Salary/Hourly Rate**:£11.95 per hour** + Holiday Pay & Work Pension
Reports to: CEO

**Dance Instructor Brief Description**

Create new dance routines. Teach students & run dance workshops. Rehearse performance routines. May direct and stage presentations.

**Essential Job Functions**:

- Audition or interview potential performers or staff members.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
In addition, the dance instructor must do the following:

- Direct rehearsals to instruct dancers in how to use dance steps, and techniques to achieve desired effects.
- Teach students, dancers, and other performers about rhythm and interpretive movement.
- Advise dancers on how to stand and move properly; teaching correct dance techniques to help prevent injuries.
- Design dances for individual dancers, dance companies, musical theatre, opera, fashion shows, film, television productions, and special events, and for dancers ranging from beginners to professionals.
- Seek influences from other art forms such as theatre, the visual arts, and architecture.
- Train, exercise, and attend dance classes to maintain high levels of technical proficiency, physical ability, and physical fitness.
- Develop ideas for creating dances, keeping notes and sketches to record influences.
- Experiment with different types of dancers, steps, dances, and placements, testing ideas informally to get feedback from dancers.
- Read and study story lines and musical scores to determine how to translate ideas and moods into dance movements.
- Direct and stage dance presentations for various forms of entertainment.
- Audition performers for one or more dance parts.
- Coordinate production music with music directors.
- Restage traditional dances and works in dance companies' repertoires, developing new interpretations.
- Record dance movements and their technical aspects, using a technical understanding of the patterns and formations of choreography.
- Assess students' dancing abilities to determine where improvement or change is needed.

**Qualifications/Experience**:

- A-Level or equivalent and above Qualification in performing Arts, including dance is essential
- Experience in training group and individual workshops is essential
- Experience in working with children is desirable

- **Fine Arts** - Knowledge of the theory and techniques required to compose, produce, and perform works of music, dance, visual arts, drama, and sculpture.
- **Education and Training** - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
- **Communications and Media** - Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.

**Music Tutor brief description**

As a music tutor, you will be proficient at teaching the piano/keyboard, and/or other instruments such as guitar (including bass guitar),violin, saxophone, drums, depending on experience and qualifications. You will be teaching beginners and intermediate students, from the age of 4 years old

**Tasks**

Tasks include, but not limited to;
- Managing and teaching music workshops online and face to face, which can include; **Teach individual and group lessons lasting from 30 minutes to an hour or longer**:

- Prepare students for performances, examinations, auditions and festivals
- Manage & supervise music tutor assistants
- Perform general office duties

**Qualifications and requirements**
- Music Qualification and/or experience is desirable
- Teaching experience is desirable
- Safeguarding experience/qualification is desirable
- Experience working with children & vulnerable adults
- Willing to undergo training & assessment
- Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, and to actively look for ways to help people;
- Ability to manage one's own time and the time of others.
