An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Specialised Medicine Therapy team as a Lead Therapist.

This team delivers inpatient care to a range of patient groups across many regional care pathways at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Weston Park Cancer Centre. The team deliver acute and on-going care to patients with a variety of medical conditions including:

- Oncology
- Haematology,
- Infectious diseases,
- Urology
- Gynae and Breast
- General medicine.

As part of the Medical Division of Acute Therapy services, this dynamic team is involved in a variety of projects which you will be supported to provide operational leadership for, including:

- Initiatives to support seamless patient care and facilitate discharge
- Working alongside the student placement team to deliver high quality and sustainable provision of student placements
- Development of the positive learning environment within the division

Specialised Medicine Team

This is a team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Technical Instructors.

As a Lead Therapist within this dynamic team your role will be to support and develop the staff and services to be able to deliver a high quality of care. You will play a key role in managing and developing the teams’ operational processes. You will review, action and share learning from complaints and datix along with identifying and managing HR processes as required. Health and Wellbeing of our staff is paramount, and you will be instrumental in the ongoing program of support in all aspects of personal and professional development, supporting the ongoing positive culture across the team and wider, developing cohesion, resilience, and direction in line with local strategy. There will also be the opportunity to continue to develop your clinical skills in this role as you will carry a small clinical case load.

You will work closely and collaboratively with the Clinical Service Manager, Clinical Specialists and fellow Lead Therapists to ensure an equitable service is delivered by a robust and resilient team

**You must be able to demonstrate**:

- Comprehensive post-registration experience including experience at specialist/senior level within the acute hospital environment
- Sound knowledge, skills and experience in the education, training & development of pre-registration and post-registration learners
- Excellent communication and team-working skills
- A commitment to quality improvement, evidence-based healthcare and collective leadership
- Experience on managing people
- The ability to work collaboratively
- Excellent organisational skills, ability to act on own initiative, to prioritise work and manage multiple tasks for self and others
- Ability to analyse complex problems, formulate solutions and implement sustainable change
- Confident in working with a wide range of senior professionals

Opportunities

The role offers the opportunity for either a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to grow their personal and professional development within the field of operational management and leadership.

**There will be opportunities for**:
Supervision and mentorship of all grades of Therapy staff.

A variety of teaching/training opportunities within the Division, Acute Therapy Services and the multi-disciplinary team.

Participation in and/or leading quality improvement initiatives within the Division, Acute Therapy Services and the multi-disciplinary team.

Development of operational, service delivery and line management knowledge and skills including HR processes.

Participation in a range of clinical. governance/assurance/management forums within the Division, Acute Therapy Services and across the wider trust.

Support by accessing the Trust wide offers such as the Managing for Excellence network and the newly launched LEAD programme both of which are aimed at supporting and developing operational managers and leaders.
