Multicare Community Services Northampton is recruiting Auxiliary Nurses.
Job Purpose: No statutory Nursing Qualification required.
- The nursing auxiliary must be of a caring nature and sympathetic to the needs of patients. The post holder must have the ability to work with colleagues from a variety of disciplines. The post holder carries out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of, and supervised by, a Registered Nurse.
Duties and Responsibilities of a nursing auxiliary assistant.

The range of duties considered appropriate for the role of nursing auxiliary (band 3) are set out below. The word “assist” is used to denote that after appropriate instruction, supervised practice, competence assessment and the completion of the Competence Based Workbook, the nursing auxiliary can carry out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse.
The role of the nursing auxiliary is to assist the Registered Nurse as a member of the Ward/Department team and may assist with duties other than those outlined. The setting may be of hospice or hospital or even a care home.
It is the responsibility of the nursing auxiliary to:
- Ensure the implementation of the Hospice/care home Core Values and Mission in practice.
- Demonstrate awareness of the importance of etiquette and good conduct within the working environment.
- Ensure an effective delivery of nursing care is provided to patients and that an acceptable standard of care is maintained.
- Provide, through policies, a safe environment for the treatment of service users and protection of staff.
- Participate in education and training programmes as required.
- Participate in rotation and redeployment of staff as required.
- Implement all policies, procedures and practices as introduced at Induction, Mandatory Training and throughout mentorship experience.
- Taking patients vital signs such as temperature and blood pressure and reporting any changes to a supervisor
- Supporting Registered Nurses with their duties by checking, sterilising and setting up equipment Serving meals and helping feed patients
- Assisting patients with performing basic tasks such as eating, dressing and going to the toilet when necessary.
- Taking blood samples and submitting them for testing Performing household duties such as changing sheets and cleaning
