This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced designer who loves all aspects of design from conception to final product, including development of sophisticated print designs and appliqués.
Working with our delightful design team based in our London office you’ll report into our Design Manager. You’ll be responsible for designing and helping develop multiple items across the breath of our categories for maternity fashion, seasonal and accessories. You’ll be working closely with our JoJo buying team to develop a balanced range and you will use your skills to help bring to market fun and engaging designs in line with our JoJo brand identity.
**A day in the life**:
- Research and present trend and inspiration, comparative analysis & competitor observation.
- Build a strong working relationship with the buying team, participating in range analysis, reviewing success and failures, and developing ranges accordingly together.
- Design & develop new and innovative items across a variety of categories and requirements; bringing JoJo USP and added value to all new lines.
- Liaise with technologists to ensure products meet the fit and quality requirements. Supporting with key measurements if required.
- Produce sophisticated print designs in a variety of handwriting, either from scratch or amending bought prints. Designing complex embroidery designs.
- Ensure design hit rates are maintained and time is not wasted whilst always pushing design forwards and problem-solving constraints.
- Draw up illustrations and complete detailed specifications. Liaise with buyers and technologists to issue specifications and reviewing samples to ensure design vision is correctly interpreted.
- Own the design critical path and support the development and production critical paths to ensure business deadlines are met. Manage suppliers during development to ensure key critical path dates are met. Problem solving and driving resolution where necessary.
- Ensure sample comments are fed back to suppliers in a timely manner and further sampling requested as necessary. Working with the buyers & technologists to ensure products are made to design vision.
- Actively engage in ethical or environmental improvements to our sourcing and supply base.
What we look for in you:
- Solid experience designing in contemporary fashion categories.
- Experience working across multi product categories.
- Proven experience producing new and innovative designs to fast paced deadlines, with a strong hit rate.
- Evidenced commercial and market awareness and innovative thinking in research.
- Ability to understand the JoJo brand and customer and use of that knowledge to design accordingly.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills. Sound interpersonal communication & influencing skills.
- Excellent understanding of garment construction, fabric & printing techniques with ability to communicate design vision clearly to team & supply base.
- Ability to confidently use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for CAD, Print and Graphics.
- Proven ability to produce sophisticated AOP multi layered repeat prints in a variety of handwriting styles, plus knowledge of print and embellishment methods.
- Constructive management and mentoring skills - being a positive role model.
- Amazing organisational skills. Never missing a trick with great attention to detail
- Ability to get things done and improvise as required with a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Ability to prioritise and work in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Packages
