Working within the Division of Family Services, the post holder will provide support for clinical governance across the division and the specialties within it. Reporting to the Divisional Clinical Governance Lead, the post holder will support the Clinical Governance Lead to ensure robust governance to enable the delivery of high quality safe patient care.

This role encompasses supporting the Clinical Governance Lead in incident management, risk management, clinical audit and clinical effectiveness programs in order to develop a high quality clinical governance and risk management strategy across the division.

The post holder will support the Clinical Governance Lead with the coordination of investigations, facilitate serious investigation incident reports and support colleagues within the division to drive the clinical governance agenda. The post holder will also provide support to ensure that external inspections have appropriate action plans and that corrective actions are completed with follow up audit as required.

The post holder will work closely with the Divisional Clinical Governance Lead, deputising in their absence.

Clinical Governance Processes
- To work under the direction of the Clinical Governance Lead to support the divisional and specialty leads for governance and divisional management team on all matters pertaining to governance, quality and audit and to support implementing changes where necessary.
- Develop and maintain effective working processes and relationships to ensure performance and quality standards are met.
- Discuss sensitive and contentious information with all grades of staff and disciplines maintaining confidentiality and integrity at all times.
- Support the delivery and sustainability of the quality and safety agenda at divisional level by following robust and safe clinical governance processes and escalating risk and supporting patient quality and safety initiatives across the Trust.
- Support the Clinical Governance Lead in the management of actions required to address outstanding clinical governance issues.
- Attend divisional and specialty governance meetings to support the division in demonstrating quality, safety, patient experience and clinical outcome measures and statutory compliance.
- Provide input into monthly clinical governance highlight reports, which are then presented at divisional and Trust level meetings.
- To ensure national safety alerts are disseminated, ensuring there are adequate assurance processes in place at specialty level to report and address any recommendations/actions set out in safety alerts. To provide assurance to the Clinical Governance Lead and divisional management team on such matters.
- Oversee the production of clinical governance meeting agendas, minutes and disseminating all the necessary reports and action plans in a timely manner prior to and after the meetings.
- To develop and maintain own knowledge and skills in clinical governance - including incidents and risks - by attending relevant training sessions and sharing the learning.
- To support the Clinical Governance Lead with regular review of divisional led policies and procedures to ensure they remain relevant and are being implemented.
- Assist the division prepare for statutory inspection visits through the provision and update of key documentation and the regular assessment of performance in relation to statutory requirements.
- To represent the Clinical Governance Lead at relevant meetings as delegated.
- Appropriately escalate matters of concern to appropriate senior managers.
- Identify and escalate training needs within the division eg based on analysis of incidents, and work with them to ensure these needs are met.
- Support the delivery of clinical governance training sessions in the division.

Quality and Audits
- To act as an expert and resource for staff on quality and audit matters.
- Support the updating of the risk register, audits and risk reviews.
