Dorset Travel coordinate the transport provision for children and young people with additional needs within Dorset as well as out of county. The team also supply and support the transport need for mainstream schools and childcare as well as adults.

The vacancy is for a Peripatetic Passenger Assistant living in the Bridport Area contracted at approximately 18 hours per week - term time only - commencing at £11.59 per hour.

The role of a Passenger Assistant is to support children and young people providing additional assistance in maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home/school. This vacancy is for a Peripatetic Passenger Assistant to cover Regular Passenger Assistant absence. There is a requirement to travel.

Dorset Travel is looking for caring, flexible and responsible passenger assistant with an understanding of young people with additional needs.
- knowledge of moderate and complex learning needs
- an understanding of safeguarding children
- recognition of a hazard and how to report

You must be physically fit with the ability to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide the care required for the position of passenger assistant.

Dorset Travel is also an accredited training centre with experienced and qualified trainers, new staff will be invited onto a full induction training course, providing the tools and knowledge to enable you to work safely and professionally.
