Your Role and Responsibilities

**Eligibility criteria for course entry**

A minimum of four SQA Highers at Grade BBBB (or equivalent) ideally including Computing or Maths

**Graduate apprenticeships**

**Degree**-IT: Software Development or IT: Management for Business

**Duration**: 4 years

**Salary**: £22,000

Our Graduate apprentices will have the opportunity to work in a variety of roles including
- Test Engineers
- Release Managers

**Outline of roles**

**Test Engineer (studying for IT: Software Development graduate apprenticeship)**

As a Testing Engineer you will be part of a SCRUM / Agile Team, working within a team of DevOps, Developers and Business Analysts supporting one of the largest Public sector engagements in the UK for IBM. The Quality Assurance and Testing process across the lifecycle is enabled through test tooling such as CI/CD Pipelines and automated test frameworks.
- Work with AWS (Amazon Web Services) Infrastructure
- Work in a Cross functional SCRUM team with a Scrum Master, Developers, Business Analysts and Architects
- Gain a good understanding of requirement analysis (user stories, acceptance criteria), test types, testing techniques and tools
- Gain a good understanding of the CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins/Groovy

**Release Manager (studying for IT: Management for Business graduate apprenticeship)**

As a Release Manager you will be part of a Release Team responsible for the following;
- Facilitating the internal and live release preparations, from code freeze to release readiness
- Investigating any issues found in the release space; identifying the root cause and management of the fix
- Responsible for tracking & reporting Delivery Quality Metrics for code release branches
- Responsible for coordinating code merges between release branches
- Coordinating with the client to share the latest updates on release readiness, release prep issues and lessons learnt
- Suggesting and managing improvement opportunities within the Release space to help pursue initiatives in process improvement, DevOps, and automation.
- Working closely with Developer, QA and DevOps Teams daily to complete all of the above
