Role Title
Head of Global Trade Compliance
Description of the work to be undertaken:
The Head of Global Trade Compliance will be responsible for interacting and engaging at senior level with both internal and external regulatory stakeholders, including ECJU (Export Control Joint Unit), Department for International Trade, HMRC and others, Trade Compliance counterparts across different business units and leadership of employees engaged in Trade Compliance activities.
- Ensure that processes related to imports and exports of goods meet the requirements of the Chemring Group Export Control Policy and UK/US Export Control legislation
- Provide specialist advice as required to ensure project delivery follows internal and external standards/requirements
- Manage risk identification and support management; audit and assurance activities (internal and external); timely investigation and reporting of potential violations to internal stakeholders and relevant Government regulators
- Provide support to reputational and strategically important Trade Compliance issues, by attendance at industry groups, Government surveys etc.
- Collaboration with all functions within the business to ensure all stakeholders are fully aware of their responsibilities in relation to Trade Compliance
- Collaboration with external stakeholders, including suppliers, to ensure compliance requirements are fully understood and met
- Implement a Trade Compliance training programme and internal audit programme and manage external audits
- Maintain productive relationships with Government regulators (e.g. UK Department for International Trade, HRMC, US State Department, US Department of Commerce etc)
- Support development of Trade Compliance responsibilities within other functions, including training, personal development, succession planning etc.
- Undertake such other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job holder's experience and qualifications, as may be required for the smooth operation of the business
