**Job description**
**Job responsibilities**
Our Prescription Administrator is responsible for delivering a professional, safe, and efficient prescription service to our patients and the wider clinical and reception teams. You will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of prescription requests for the practice population, liaising effectively with all relevant personnel. You will resolve prescription queries using the relevant protocol.
Duties can include but are not limited to, the processing of repeat prescriptions in electronic and hard copy format, including online requests. Other day-to-day duties include providing excellent telephone advisory service to external customers (eg: dealing with specific medication related queries).
As a result, you will be responsible for maintaining appropriate clinical knowledge as required for the role.

We are a friendly and supportive GMS practice in Salford.
We have a patient list size of 19,500 across 2 sites.
We are a forward-thinking practice providing high quality patient care.
We are a training practice and consist of 6 GP Partners and 6 salaried GPs in addition to 6 nurses, GP trainees, and ARRS staff. Staff are hard-working whilst also maintaining a positive and supportive environment to work in.
We are part of Salford South East PCN.
**Main duties of the job**
- To ensure repeat medication is issued in line with the protocols that are already in place and ensure that any queries raised are dealt with quickly and correctly.
- To promote and implement electronic repeat dispensing in appropriate patients; to promote online ordering of prescriptions.
- Assist the pharmacist/pharmacist technician with administration and source alternative medication where supply issues arise.
- Liaise with patients and Clinician's regarding medication queries.
- Ensure medication reviews are arranged by maintaining an accurate recall system.
- Effectively liaise with external services i.e. district nurses to ensure medications are arranged for housebound patients.
- Update patient records as appropriate.
- Record and report significant events accurately and appropriately, informing the Lead GP Partner immediately following internal reporting procedures.
- Act upon compliance issues, liaising with the appropriate clinician.
- Liaise with pharmacies on the supply of prescribed drugs, alert our clinicians of any supply issues and forward information on the recommended alternatives.
- Expedite urgent prescriptions to help ensure a safe and responsive service for our patients.
- Liaise with external Pharmacy services and patients as necessary to resolve queries.
- Build good working relationships with local Pharmacies to help enable our prescription service.
- Support the practice clinical pharmacist as required.
Experience working as a Prescription Administrator, Medical Receptionist or Dispenser would be beneficial but not essential.
