Newport Live is currently recruiting independent Non-Executive Trustees with a passion for Newport, who can help us deliver our strategic objectives as we seek to continue to respond to the Coronavirus pandemic and support the economic and well-being regenerationof Newport, as we Inspire People to be Happier and Healthier.
The current Chair of the Newport Live board has announced that he will retire as a Trustee and as Chair in March 2023. The board, therefore, is seeking to appoint a new Chair to work with the Vice Chair and the Chief Executive through an exciting period ofchange for the charity. The Chair will be elected by the Board from within its Community Trustee Membership and as such, any newly recruited Trustees will be eligible for appointment.
Trustees are required to support the Chief Executive to lead the governance of the Trust in the provision of well-being, sport, leisure arts and cultural facilities and community intervention and engagement programmes in the interests of social welfare to thelocal communities.
An important part of the role is to steer and lead the organisation to ensure it promotes community participation. Wherever possible positively influencing the behaviours of the public on the benefit of living and practising an active lifestyle and the valueof the arts and physical activity upon their physical and mental well-being and quality of life.
Experience, skills and abilities:

- A good knowledge of the sport, leisure, theatre, arts and culture sectors
- Experience of working within the community, 3rd sector or with related groups or clubs
- A good understanding of the objectives of Newport Live and in particular, health and wellbeing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Analytical skills and the ability to work at a strategic level
