**Key Purpose**:
**Background**

This is an essential role providing excellent administrative support assisting the Judge throughout the day, typing a written record of hearings.

The Court Scribe role works within the family administration team with regular management support and are responsible for their own time, working closely with the Judge and Court Clerk.

**Key responsibilities**

**Administration**
- General photocopying and filing.
- Post opening and dispatch (if not required to scribe)

**Drafting**
- Taking a written note of the Court hearing and when required typing letters and correspondence, orders, minutes as required by the Judge.

**Other duties**

The post holder is required to work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post.

**Operational Delivery in HMCTS**

This role is part of the Operational Delivery Profession. Operational delivery professionals are the outward face of government, providing essential services to the public in a variety of roles. They work in many different departments and agencies across the breadth of the UK, delivering service to customers in
- Face-to-face roles in HMCTS for example a court usher
- Contact Centre roles in HMCTS for example call centre advisers
- Processing roles in HMCTS for example Staff at the County Courts Money-Claims Centre and Courts and Tribunal Administration

**Application Process**:

Interviews will also test two **Strengths**.

Interviews will take place face to face.

**Working Hours / Pattern**:
This role is for 37 hours a week, Mon-Fri. There will be occasions where you may be required to work outside of office hours in accordance with the Judge. Please discuss this further at interview.
