About The Role
**Location**:Devizes
**Days & Hours**:Full time, Part time and Bank hours available. Shifts are 12.25 hours to include days, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays. Typical shifts are: 7.15am - 7.30pm and 7.15pm - 7.30am, Monday - Sunday
**Pay: Weekdays **£13.50 per hour, **Weekends/Bank Holidays**: £14.50 per hour,**Sleeping night weekdays**: £National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage per hour for **Weekend/Bank Holiday Sleeping nights**: £National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage +£1 per hour
**Driver required? **Essential (will need own car to get to work)
**Driving Clients Car? **Yes, our client's Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV), automatic
**Using Own Vehicle for work purposes? **Yes, On duty and to attend trainings
**Essential Experience**:Experience of Care/Support Work
**Desirable**:Experience and knowledge of Traumatic Brain Injury
**Accommodation (while on duty)**: Fully adapted family home, with separate Carer's entrance and Carer's annexe
Douglas born in 1948, has a caring nature and loves interacting with animals. He loves his food and will have pudding 3 times a week. His favourite TV programme is Bargain Hunt. Structure is very important to him and likes to know what is happening and when.
The Support Worker post involves providing assistance and support to our client in self-care and daily living activities (e.g. washing, dressing, toileting, transfers) and enabling him to access the community, leisure and social activities. The Support Worker will also support Douglas to follow through recommendations made by his treating therapists. Douglas has his food pureed at regular times due to risk of choking.
Experience of care/support work and knowledge of Traumatic Brain Injury is desirable but training will be provided and a full driving license (endorsements to be disclosed) and access to a car is essential, though Douglas has his own wheelchair adapted vehicle which the support worker will drive when taking our client out.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join a dedicated home care team and develop existing skills and support this very special man. A truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion.
**Pay and Benefits**:
- £13.50 per hour, Weekdays and £14.50 per hour, Weekends, £NMW/NLW per hour for Weekday, Sleeping nights and £NMW/NLW +£1 per hour for Weekend and Bank Holiday, Sleeping Nights- On-going training & support provided- 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata- Free DBS check.**In order to promote continuity of our high care standards, you will be offered**:
- Induction,
- Relevant training opportunities (including The Care Certificate),
- Regular clinical supervision/review meetings,
- On-going support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR department

- About You
- Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.
- Experience of Care/Support Work
- Confident and comfortable working in Douglas’ own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family and respect their needs for privacy and maintaining confidentiality
- Happy to learn new things - hoisting, feeding, personal care routine etc. Training will be given.
