You’ll manage stock levels, keep the kitchen clean and tidy and, occasionally, help one of our young people prepare their own food.

In addition to looking for someone who understands the vital importance of good nutrition and hygiene, as well as the cultural influence food can have on a young person’s development, we want to employ someone that shares our passion for improving the lives of young people; providing them with the best possible experiences while they’re with us and the greatest opportunities to thrive when they leave the safety of our care. That means we’re searching for a genuine team player; resilient, capable and committed.

**Cook’s Objectives**
- To support and safeguard staff and residents by providing a variety of meals.
- To ensure catering meets the health, nutrition, specific dietary requirements (including cultural and religious) and food hygiene needs of all residents, staff and visitors.
- To maintain appropriate stocks of food and beverages and kitchen consumables

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Preparing and cooking planned meals for agreed lunch times.
- Preparing and part cooking planned meals for dinner times.
- Ensuring each child and young person has regular access to a varied menu of well-cooked, nutritionally balanced hot and cold meals, snacks and drinks, meeting all dietary requirements.
- Equipping children and young people with pre-planned packed lunches and picnic supplies for consumption outside the Home.
- Ensuring each member of staff on duty has access to a varied menu of well-cooked, nutritionally balanced hot & cold meals, snacks & drinks, meeting all dietary requirements.
- Meal planning, budgeting and shopping.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, ensuring food hygiene, infection prevention and safety protocols are followed at all times during shifts.

**Benefits**:
- Competitive pay, loyalty and referral bonuses (£50 - £500)
- Access to ongoing training
- 28 days’ (112 hours’) paid holiday
- Company pension scheme

**About Arnfield Care**:
Established in 1997 and based in the High Peak, Arnfield Care Ltd is an outstanding independent provider of high-quality residential care and on-site education for children and young people from throughout the United Kingdom and, occasionally, abroad. Residents, aged between 11 and 17 years, are dealing with a wide range of complex and challenging needs resulting from social, emotional and behavioural difficulties in their formative years. We pride ourselves on being nurturing and supportive, and on using innovative strategies to engage young people so that they can overcome early disadvantages and achieve genuine equality of opportunity in later life.

**Important**

All the young people we look after are equally entitled to have their needs met in a safe, fair, respectful and balanced way. All staff are responsible for safeguarding and promoting equal opportunities and for challenging any behaviour or practice which discriminates against any young person or colleague on the grounds of race, religion, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation or any other perceived difference.

Job offers and continued employment are conditional upon stringent pre-employment checks and thorough referencing to assess the suitability of applicants, as well as the achievement and maintenance of Enhanced DBS clearance. Applications will only be considered from applicants who are able to drive manual vehicles (occupational requirement).
