**Location**:Princess Alexandra Hospital, CM20 1QX

**Hours**:9pm-7am (10-hour shift with ½ hour break)

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS trust plays a huge part in west Essex and east and north Hertfordshire's way of life.

The trust runs a busy hospital, The Princess Alexandra Hospital and provides services at St. Margaret's Hospital and Herts and Essex Hospital. Together serve a population of around 350,000 people.

**What you’ll be responsible for**:

- Answering the switchboard for 3 different hospitals, this can be up to 3000+ calls today, emergency alarms, dealing with calls of the helipad, key holder for departments, dealing with major incidents, dealing with declared or standby incidents for Stansted Airport (for example landing equipment failure, smoke coming from engine etc).
- Liaising with different emergency services, making 999 calls, dealing with crash calls, cardiac arrests, paediatrics crash calls, neo natal, blood loss.

**You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust**:
1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS

2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times

3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

**You’ll have the following skills/experience**:

- Excellent communication skills
- both written and verbal
- Excellent organisation skills
- Previous admin experience
- Previous NHS experience (desirable)
- NHS System Knowledge
- Ability to deal calmy and professionally when times are intense, sensitive and possibly upsetting
