sia Abrasives Ltd (part of the Bosch Power Tools/Accessories Division) is an innovative manufacturer of non woven and foam abrasive products as well as a distributer in the UK of coated abrasives. The sites in Greetland, West Yorkshire and Alfreton, Derbyshire, have a wealth of experience in the manufacture and development of abrasive products, ideally complementing sia Abrasives’ systems solutions.

**Job Description**:
Core Tasks (Placement Project):

- Creating standardisation through drafting Work Instructions for approval.
- Working with manufacturing operators, quality colleagues and the TEF team to document the standard working practices by process.
- Highlighting gaps in current documentation and proposing actions required to close the gaps.
- Improving productivity by implementing Total Productive Maintenance tasks.
- Drafting controlled documents for approval.
- Data analysis and updating key performance indicators.
- Updating training matrixes and training records.
- General manufacturing administration (filing, printing, scanning).
- General tasks and duties that contribute to the successful completion of defined projects.
- Raising purchase requisitions and purchasing equipment.

Project Tasks (Placement Enrichment):

- Involvement in teams conducting ‘added value’ projects that contribute to the continuous improvement of the business.
- 5s improvements across manufacturing.
- Project management support.
- Utilisation of Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques (Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, SMED, Change Management, System CIP, PDCA, A3, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, FMEA, Kaizen, TPM, PPM.)

Other Ad-hoc Tasks
- Support HSE improvements in processes including Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of work.
- Support other functions in specific projects e.g. HR, ENG.
- Support other business functions with key initiatives and/or events.

- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- IT literate.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to support change in the business.
- Ability to multi task and work to deadlines.
- Proactive and positive approach to tasks.
- Ability to work with people at all levels of the organisation as well as on your own.
- Committed to own personal development and training, identifying role elements that support academic studies.
