**JOB TITLE**:EQA Data Scientist

**POSITION REPORTS TO: Team Leader (Project Manager/Senior Management)**

QCMD is an independent International External Quality Assessment (EQA) / Proficiency Testing (PT) organization. QCMD provides a wide-ranging quality assessment service primarily focused on molecular infectious diseases to over 2000 participants in over 100 countries.
QCMD is dedicated to advancing the quality of molecular diagnostics through External Quality Assessment (EQA), Proficiency Testing (PT) and other supporting quality initiatives.
**JOB SUMMARY**:
The role of the EQA Data Scientist is to support the technical team in the generation of EQA documentation and publication of reports.
Responsibility for scientific data handling, analysis, visualisation, and preparation of individual reports and supplementary reports.
The role requires excellent attention to detail, and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within the team. The ability to work on several diverse tasks at the same time and whilst managing tight deadlines is essential.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Organise the collection, collation, assessment, and verification of the data analysis process:
- Perform data interpretation and report generation in adherence with QCMD’s SOP and specific work instructions and requirements under its accreditation to ISO17043.
- Arrange the provision of bespoke EQA data collation, analysis, and report preparation.
- Where required, provide additional data analysis support to the QCMD customer services.
- Support the organisation and verification of quality control testing data.
- Assist in preparation of technical EQA documentation, and the IT EQA management system.
- Create and maintain electronic project files, resources, reports by ensuring that all appropriate EQA programme documentation is in place and kept up to-date.
- To exercise discretion and manage workload within project time constraints.
- Liaise and collaborate with other QCMD and supplier staff to ensure that EQA programmes run to predefined project plan timelines.
- To act as a point of contact within the function and specific project/analysis delivery.
- Resolve day-to-day problems independently and within the team
**Other responsibilities**
- Planning and prioritising workload without supervision.
- Managing multiple internal and external inputs to support data analysis.
- Working autonomously within the bounds of existing knowledge & skills.

- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills.
- A basic understanding of statistical methods and their use within Quality Assessment.
- IT literate in MS Office 365 with intermediate/expert competence in MS Excel.
- Using tools and techniques to visualise data in easy-to-understand formats, such as diagrams and graphs.
- Ability to prioritise workload with ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Good interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively build a network of contacts and integrate successfully with established teams.
- Ability to communicate independently in a timely and courteous manner utilising all available methods including verbal and written communication.
- Capability to multi-task and prioritise as and when required.
- Organised, methodical, quick, consistent, efficient, and reliable approach to the work.
**Education and Experience**:
- A bachelor’s degree in life science or similar.
- Experience in scientific data handling, analysis, and report preparation.
- Experience of working in a fast-past, deadline driven environment.
Desirable but not essential:
- A master’s degree in either biology/ bioinformatics/ microbiology/molecular biology/ data analysis and statistics.
- Knowledge of molecular laboratory techniques is preferred.
- Project Management qualification/MS Project experience.
- Knowledge of the Quality Assurance, Quality Control and/or Life Sciences sector.
- Experience of performing administrative/project management roles.

**Salary **:from £22,000 pa based on experience
**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary contract
