This role is responsible for delivering the effective administration of UG and PGT programmes within the School. The post-holder will lead and line manage a team of professional services staff and will ensure that taught students and teaching staff receivean exceptional level of service from this team.
The post-holder will work closely with the School's Management Team, key academic members of staff and other professional services teams to help the School deliver its operational and strategic objectives. They will also form strong networks with Universityand Faculty services to ensure that the School's teaching and learning processes are effective, efficient and respond to quality assurance and compliance needs.
Main responsibilities
- To provide line management, support and guidance for staff within their team.
- To lead, plan and organise the work of staff within their team.
- To contribute to the development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of relevant Teaching and Learning policies and procedures.
- To be responsible for managing general communication with students and academic staff and ensuring that enquiries are managed effectively and professionally.
- To oversee, manage and review the attendance monitoring procedure in relation to taught programmes students.
- To oversee the production of teaching timetables, in liaison with academic and technical staff and the Faculty timetabling team.
- To plan and ensure the taught programmes administrative processes adhere to professional body regulations, Faculty requirements, University policy and UKVI requirements.
- To support quality assurance processes as required.
- To provide information and advice to academic and support staff on taught student-related administrative matters, including constructive participation in relevant committees and examination boards to help support decision making.
- To maintain processes in relation to accurate data retention in compliance with the University's Record Retention Schedule and legislative requirements.
- To be responsible for maintaining student records on Campus Solutions and Blackboard.
- To be responsible for the maintenance and creation of curriculum management information on Campus Solutions.
- To produce official documentation such as student transcripts and letters and programme handbooks as required.
- To support students with the registration process and course unit selection process as necessary, and to ensure that all students are fully registered and enrolled on appropriate units.
- To support the monitoring and recording engagement and attendance of students, in line with University policy.
- To oversee and manage examinations and assessment processes, liaising with the central Examinations and Faculty team and the where appropriate. This includes:
- The production of formatted exam papers and solutions, liaising with key academic staff to ensure that quality requirements and deadlines are adhered to.
- The collation and checking of coursework and exam marks and the production of exam grids.
- Liaising with External Examiners regarding the review of exam papers and exam board arrangements.
- To oversee and manage the implementation of the School's exam feedback policy for UG and PGT course units.
