The Senior Scrum Master plays a lead role in developing the department’s agile centre of excellence. This includes defining agile approaches, tools, processes and practices within Enterprise IT; ensuring that these are understood, applied and rolled out successfully to upskill the community in using scrum-based software development. A key responsibility of the Senior Scrum Master is to provide leadership and ensure excellence in execution, ensuring that the team have the right skills and knowledge and are motivated to operate as a high-performance team.

**The opportunity**
The Senior Scrum Master will be responsible for all aspects of delivery of the end product throughout the product development lifecycle including:

- Act as a key interface into business units to support delivery of complex, multi-faceted IT change
- Understanding and appreciation of balancing customer and business needs targeted customer personas, and product design principles.
- Define the value proposition, product goals, and minimum viable product.
- Develop the product using sound, sustainable engineering practices that ensure quality.
- Understand the product's competitive landscape and market environments in which it needs to compete.
- Responsible for the release of software to customers in a regular lifecycle in line with customer demands.

The Senior Scrum master will be responsible for delivering and jointly evolving the department’s agile centre of excellence including:

- Deliver the processes (including use of Kanban/ scrum as necessary) and ensuring that these facilitate the agile deliveries within teams that are either co-located or not.
- Deliver the necessary tools to support agile including tools to manage product backlogs, workflow, ticket management, defect management, etc.
- Deliver a team of agile enabled personnel to work on agile projects. This includes the recruitment, management and on-going development of the people.
- Responsible for facilitating daily scrums and product lifecycle planning (including forecasting and managing to time, cost and quality the deliverables as required).
- The overseeing and implementation of sprint retrospective meetings, using outputs to improve the delivery of subsequent sprints and continuous improvement for the team.
- Solution conflict resolution. Responsible for making all parties land the right solution for the business via the removal of impediments.
- Drive and own improvements in the efficiency of the development team using creativity and innovation.
- Simplify and define goals (with the product owners) identified within strategically important, large, complex projects or programmes of work, plan and deliver actions to achieve them.
- Build key relationship with product owners to ensure that the product backlog is clearly defined ready for the next sprint.

- An engaging communicator with the ability to relate to diverse stakeholders build relationships internally and with customers
- Experienced in project delivery including experience of leading and managing teams in this field to obtain significant business benefit
- Knowledge and experience of Scrum adoption, best practices, ceremonies and team level facilitation
- Excellent team leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and influencing and excellent people management skills across several teams
- Knowledge of modern development practices and tools such as Scrum, Test-Driven Development, Behaviour Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
- Experience of leading the delivery of multi-faceted digital solutions to customers
- Drive participatory decision making and conflict resolution across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
- Solid team mentoring skills that demonstrate the agile values and principles in every thought and action.
- Knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement and team empowerment.
- Is Self-disciplined and has ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to prioritise and delegate as and when required
