Purchasing Assistant

We are looking to appoint a motivated, outgoing, conscientious person to join our purchasing team. The main purpose of the job is to provide an effective and efficient purchasing service for our business.
You will be ensuring all purchase orders are promptly generated and expedited as appropriate and using your own initiative to resolve delivery and quality problems.
Purchasing experience desirable but not essential. This is a fully office based position in the centre of Rochdale. You will occasionally be required to work at our James Briggs site in Royton, so a driving licence and own transport is essential.
**Main Duties**
- Monitor order status, communicating any issues to materials/planning departments.
- Ensure information is processed and communicated efficiently and accurately.
- Maintain system data to ensure it is current.
- Administration of purchase orders for suppliers.
- Liaise with suppliers in relation to purchase order processing.
- Manage the order book and expedite outstanding orders.
- Deal with day to day enquiries into the department.
- Work with other departments to resolve issues.

Suitable Applicants should have:
- Excellent IT skills particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong administrative organization skills.
- Accurate with attention to detail.
- Can work independently and in a team.
- Flexible & pro-active.
