Suffolk Youth Justice Service (SYJS) work to reduce the risk of offending, help children to fulfil their potential and make Suffolk a safer place.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Ipswich office as a Practice Lead and be part of a friendly, and supportive team. If you love coaching and mentoring and are passionate about effective practice, this could be the role for you

**Your role**

You will:

- take a leading role in developing effective practice across the team, ensuring that we: work in an evidence informed way; produce high quality assessments, reports that inform our plans and interventions; keep others safe (public protection and); keep children safe (safety and wellbeing and preventing further offending)
- work directly with staff to support children and families to solve complex problems and keep everybody safe.

**Your responsibilities**

You will:

- be expected to work closely with the quality assurance team. In collaboration with them, they will support team members to consistently implement and embed policy and practice approaches and arrange high quality induction and development for team members
- need to know about effective practice with children
- ensure you and your colleagues work within statutory guidance and legal frameworks
- actively build relationships and networks with other professional groups and services in the locality
- quality assure assessments and reports to a high standard
- need to be organised and a great communicator.

**You will need**:

- a suitable professional qualification at graduate level or equivalent experience in a relevant area of work
- evidence of continuing professional development

**The team**

The Suffolk Youth Justice Service (SYJS) works with children, young people who are in, or on the edge of the Youth Justice System.

The service also works with parents and carers and the victims of youth crime. SYJS is a multi-agency partnership hosted by Suffolk County Council. The aim is to prevent offending by children and young people and protect the public from the harm caused by their offending.

At the same time the service works to ensure the safety and well-being of these children and young people and to enhance their life aspirations and opportunities. Staff and managers are committed to the sometimes, challenging work they do.
