**Job summary**:
We are currently seeking enthusiastic Transfer Practitioners for the ACCOTS service hosted by

University Hospitals Birmingham. The ACCOTS is based at Union Park, West Bromwich, all shifts start and end from this base.

The Adult Critical Care Coordination Transfer Service (ACCOTS) is based in the Midlands region and provides coordination, triage, decision-support and transfer of critically ill patients between hospitals for escalation to specialist care, repatriation and capacity reasons. It is primarily focused on intra region transfers but must be capable of delivering inter regional transfers and have the ability to surge capacity when the Adult Critical Care (ACC) service is under pressure.

All posts are full time, permanent, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Sunday, The service currently runs daytime shifts, 08:00 - 20:00 and 10:00 - 22:00 and Night shift 20:00 - 0800.

We are keen to hear from applicants with Critical Care and Patient Transfer experience who are already currently working within the acute setting in the NHS.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
As Band 6 Transfer Practitioners, following completion of the appropriate additional training, you will assume responsibility for the delivery of Adult Critical Care Transfers to ensure the specialised care required to transfer critically ill adults is carried out to a high standard. There is an expectation that you continue to develop your clinical and management skills by demonstrating an ability to work remotely in the referring centres, in partnership with the local teams.

By working collaboratively with the multi-professional team, the post holder will act as a professional role model, setting standards of practice and promoting clinical effectiveness and actively participating in practice developments identified through the service governance processes. You will be expected to support and mentor new members of the multi-professional team, demonstrating an active role in the on going education programmes.

In partnership with the Midlands Critical Care Network, the post holder will support the relationship between the Service and referring centres through taking on the role of link practitioner for several designated hospitals, assuming responsibility, with the Lead Practitioner for the delivery of outreach education and annual updates.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:

- Relevant professional registration with the NMC
- Educated to Degree level or working towards completion.
- Speciality qualification in Adult Critical Care (or equivalent)
- Completion of Critical Care Steps Competencies 1,2 & 3 or equivalent.
- Assessing and mentoring qualification or willingness to undertake.
- Basic and Advanced life support (BLS/ALS) or willingness to undertake.

**Desirable**:

- Teaching qualification
- Critical care transfer training course

**Experience**:
**Essential**:
Recent experience working within an Adult Critical Care Unit
- Recent relevant experience with intra-hospital transfer
- Portfolio of evidence showing achievements in practice / speciality
- Understanding of professional and current issues in critical care transfers

**Desirable**:

- Evidence of delivering teaching programmes to staff groups
