JRDF are a small but rapidly growing family business, based in South Lanarkshire. We specialise in creating unusual and highly detailed authentic replicas of digital assets, for events/installations and for merchandise. Our manufacturing projects go from small models that sit in the palm of your hand to immersive office spaces that really make you feel like you're in another world.
Due to the expansion of a number of long term projects with our client, Cloud Imperium Games, we are expanding our manufacturing team. The Scenic Carpenter will work alongside the design and finishing teams to take pieces produced by the machinist to build the components that make up the full-scale realisations. They will understand and use a broad range of materials and techniques, utilise creative problem solving including the use of non-traditional techniques throughout their work.
**The Role**
- Develop alternate means for solving special designing problems relating to structure, material, cost, size, weight or artistic objective of set pieces.
- Able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency at a bench, with both hand and power tools
- Trained and familiar with all the usual woodworking machinery
- Have a thirst for learning new techniques to further themselves and the team
- Work in close collaboration with the rest of the team to ensure the delivery in a timely and durable manner
- Ensure that work is completed in the correct and safe manner and that current regulations, good housekeeping, guidance notes and approved codes of practice are followed at all times
**The Person**
**Skills & Experience**:
- At least 2 years experience working professionally in the industry
- Ability to use woodwork machinery and hand tools
- Ability to read technical drawings
- The ability to work well under pressure and understand the demands of the industry
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team, while always adhering to deadlines
**Key Information**:
**Salary**: £25-30K commensurate with experience.
Annual Leave: 28 days including Bank Holidays.
Working hours: Monday-Friday 9-5 (flexible with weekend working)
