We are recruiting for a SWA on behalf of Hampshire covering the Havant area.

**Social Work Assistants provide an invaluable role in the work of Hampshire Children's Services by supporting our Social Workers**

You will be based in the busy Children's Reception Team processing referrals in respect of vulnerable children and young people. As a confident communicator, you will work collaboratively with families and a wide range of professionals in order to improvethe outcomes for children and families. This role will also include working closely with Ukrainian Refugees.

**Role Responsibilities**
- Undertaking a range of relevant tasks and responsibilities as prioritised and deemed to be appropriate by the Team Manager, to support teams in fulfilling their duties.
- Working in partnership with children, parents, carers and professionals.
- Using mediation and negotiation skills to support young people and their parents/carers in improving their relationships.
- Make sound recommendations based on the referral information received in line with the Hampshire Safeguarding Children Board and Children's Trust Thresholds Chart and confidently identify the risks and strengths.
- Experience of working in a busy, fast paced environment with changing priorities

**Essential Experience**:

- You will have a good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and young people
- Be able to identify risks that impact on their well-being and safety
- Experience of working with children, young people and families in a safeguarding environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills are desirable as is the ability to engage with children, families and professionals.
- Literacy, numeracy and I.T. skills are essential part of the role.

**Working Conditions include**:

- 37 hours week - Monday to Friday (8:30am - 5pm)
- £23 per hour (umbrella rate)
- Hybrid Working to include home working and face to face visits
- Part Time hours considered
