The role of the Public Health Department of NHS Ayrshire & Arran is to deliver on the public health functions associated with public health protection, health intelligence, health improvement and environmental health. This includes the provision of strategic leadership for the populations’ health and responding to health inequalities, the provision of expert advice and guidance to support the promotion of health improvement.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Health Improvement Team and alongside clinical cancer teams, third sector organisations and local authority services to understand the potential methods and services available for the delivery of prehabilitation across Ayrshire and Arran. You will be required to work with partners effectively, engaging, influencing and building capacity in order to develop a cohesive system for patients to access prehabilitation throughout their cancer journey.

You will be required to provide health improvement expertise and advice to increase the capacity of colleagues, partners and communities to promote health and wellbeing, improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities. To develop, action, monitor and evaluate evidence based health improvement programmes to improve health outcomes and quality of life for people with cancer in Ayrshire and Arran by implementing the core health improvement functions of leadership including; training; health information, social marketing resource and campaign development; developing partnerships for health; project management; and, research and evaluation.

Please note: this a fixed term/secondment opportunity for 14 months.
