We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Data Analyst to join our senior management team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about utilising data to drive strategic decision making.

Skills group was formed in 1994 and is the premier independent training provider in the South west of England. We deliver apprenticeships, study programmes, high needs programmes and a significant AEB contract within the region.

We are currently going through a reorganization from top to bottom in order to drive improvement and standards and this role is crucial in that drive. The company currently has a mix of experienced and committed staff and new blood working together to transform our provision and reestablish ourselves as amongst the best in the country

The head of data will also be responsible for ensuring financial returns of approximately £500,000 per month and, in conjunction with the Managing director and Operations director, the integrity of the underlying data.

While we are currently recruiting for a 12 month fixed contract that could be reviewed by agreement of both parties into a permanent position.

**Job Title: Head of Data, Performance and Financial returns**

**Salary/Duration: £50,000 - 12 months**

**Reports to: Managing Director**

**Hours: Full-time 39.5 hours per week**

The purpose of the Head of Data is to collect, analyse, and interpret complex educational data to support strategic decisions to improve student learning outcomes and experience at Skills Group, as well as to make financial returns to the ESFA and local authority. The Head of data will identify patterns and trends in student performance, track progress and identify areas for improvement, and support the development of data-driven strategies to enhance teaching and learning. Additionally, the data analyst will provide regular reports and insights to relevant stakeholders to ensure that data is being effectively utilised to support the goals and mission of the provider.
The Role
- Partnering with the Senior Leadership Team to define clear performance metrics that align with the providers vision and goals. The head of data will attend regular meetings with the SLT to understand their data needs, present analysis, contribute to strategy, and discuss any relevant updates from the Department for Education and ESFA.
- Will take charge of auditing, designing, and implementing efficient systems for collecting and analysing data to support improvement. They will lead on analysing attendance data and distributing it to relevant parties. They will also identify trends and present data in a format that is suitable for a variety of stakeholders.
- Maintain and manipulate data in other systems as required
- Be responsible for providing accurate and insightful reports to the governing body, SLT, middle leaders, teachers, parents and external agencies. They will work with the SLT to establish effective tracking and reporting mechanisms for key performance areas, including academic performance, student attendance, behaviour, census data, and safeguarding. The data analyst will ensure that data is timely and accessible to stakeholders to support improvement efforts.
- Keep up-to-date with current research and best practices in data analysis and evaluation. They will advise managers and the SLT on compliance issues and ensure that statutory returns are made accurately.
- Oversee download of examination and test results, including public examinations. Generation of associated examination results and other associated reports

Management of Information Systems
- Providing strategic direction for the MIS function and preparing the providers information system (currently WinPICS) for each monthly return and yearly closedown.
