Your role at a glance
Leading model preparation for portfolio companies to inform strategic planning: using a combination of strong commercial and modelling skillsets, the associate will be responsible for the preparation of strategic financial information for the planning, forecasting and management information processes across the Specialist Commercial Real Estate, Clean Energy and GP Investing teams.

Preparing investment appraisal models: the associate will play a lead role in preparing, analysing and evaluating investment models for new transactions and reviewing reported information to support the preparation of financial information used to inform our strategic M&A activities.

Supporting due diligence processes: the associate will also support investment teams with new M&A transactions undertaking the due diligence of investment appraisals and valuations.

General financial strategic input to portfolio: the associate will develop an in-depth knowledge of LGC’s Specialist Commercial Real Estate, Clean Energy and GP Investing businesses

What you'll be doing
- You will be reviewing and challenging financial cashflows models for asset valuation and profit reporting across the investment teams
- You will play a lead role in the preparation of the model(s) underlying the 5-year plan and monthly reporting cycle across the Specialist Commercial Real Estate, Clean Energy and GP Investing teams
- You will play a lead role in the preparation of investment appraisal models involved in the M&A processes within the above sectors, including presentation of the associated outputs in Investment Committees and other similar forums
- You will ensure robust control and understanding of the assumptions inherent in the models
- You will provide financial transaction support across the acquisition and disposal processes within the portfolio
- You will review business plans and valuation models to ensure rigorous and robust challenge is provided at underwrite and throughout the investment life cycle
- You will work closely with external M&A advisors to ensure smooth and effective processes as part of the financial analysis of individual transactions
- You will support the investment teams and finance functions in our underlying investments in dealing with operational issues, reporting challenges, accounting treatments and review of financial performance and position
- You will assist in the preparation of high quality and well controlled MI including asset valuation reviews across the portfolio on a quarterly / six-monthly basis
- You will work with LGC’s central Financial Reporting and FP&A teams to ensure actual and forecast financial performance and position data is correctly recorded in our accounting systems
- You will engage with various stakeholders across the division and wider Group including Risk, Actuarial, Tax and Group Internal and External Reporting teams as well as senior stakeholders in LGC
- You will Support the team’s interaction with external stakeholders such as 3rd party valuers and consultants
- You will contribute to the preparation of reports and presentations for forums such as divisional and Group Investment and Performance Committees
- You will support the delivery of a financial strategy and plan to ensure business development activities are delivered in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly policy.

What we're looking for
- Relevant accounting/ financial qualification, preferably ACA/ACCA or CFA
- Demonstrable commercial acumen and interest in alternative asset investment
- Finance background and skills
- Strong excel and data presentation skills
- Significant modelling experience and a solid financial analysis grounding in order to assist senior finance and investment staff in assessing and reporting the division’s performance and medium-term value creation plans with reference to its liquidity requirements and PBT generation
- Minimum 1-2 years’ PQE with experience in real estate and infrastructure sectors (preferable but not essential)
- Experience of working to tight reporting deadlines, ideally in large corporate teams
