**Housing Sustainment Officers x 3**

1 x Navigator role - Fixed Term for 2 years
2 x Improving housing outcomes for those in drug and alcohol treatment - Fixed Term for 1 year

We have fixed term posts available in our Homelessness Prevention & Options team within our Housing Access Service, following the award of grant funding aimed at improving housing outcomes for specific groups of people.

These are diverse, interesting roles in a fast paced and responsive environment where no two days are the same and priorities can change due to service demands.

All roles will require lone working in various locations, including customers’ homes. The roles will be based between office(s), home and other locations, and you can work flexibly within this according to the needs of your role and working day.

It is a challenging time working in homelessness at the moment and it can be very difficult to manage customer and partner expectations around housing outcomes. However, we are a newly developed service, keen to try new things, and are a friendly and supportive bunch of people who work together to get the best outcomes we can for our customers. If you have experience of working with members of the public in sensitive and challenging situations, are motivated to deliver high quality services and outcomes to those in need of support and have a flexible and adaptable approach, please take a look

One Housing Sustainment Officer will be based within the Private Sector Access Team and will primarily be focussing on the ‘Accommodation for Ex Offenders Scheme’. This person’s role will be to work with people prior to their release from prison/approved premises in order to identify and resolve any barriers to their successful resettlement into, and sustainment of, any new tenancy that is sourced for them by the Private Sector Access Team. This person will also promote the ‘Duty to Refer’ process to ensure partners are referring cases into the local authority when someone is likely to be homeless upon release, including developing improved processes which reduce the number of people reporting to have somewhere to stay when asked but then immediately approach the authority as homeless upon release. The Officer may also carry out tenancy sustainment work for the Private Sector Access team where this is required, in support of the Accommodation for Ex offenders or wider team activity.

Two Housing Sustainment Officers will be based within the Homelessness Prevention and Options Team, with a focus on preventing homelessness, or supporting customers to achieve improved housing outcomes, when they are in treatment for drug/alcohol misuse. These roles will carry out a range of tasks within the team including taking initial homelessness approaches, carrying homelessness prevention caseloads for people in treatment and also where appropriate, supporting people in treatment in their new tenancies if a risk of repeat homelessness is identified. They will also support those in treatment who are homeless to find suitable accommodation, which will involve developing personal housing plans with people and supporting them to explore the realistic housing options available to them.

Whilst there is no requirement to have a car, you must be able to travel between locations in order to carry out your role.

All posts are fixed term due to funding.
