**The Opportunity**:
Bristol is a major hub for our UK Civil manufacturing business, with two manufacturing sites (Filton and Western Approach) and a world-class research and development centre, the UK Global Technology Centre (GTC). Across the manufacturing sites, we design and build composite wing spars, fixed trailing edges, large complex structural wing assemblies and detailed metallic components for some of the world’s most popular aircraft. At the GTC, we focus on additive manufacturing (AM), advanced composites, assembly and industry 4.0 processes to enable the high rate production of aircraft structures. We have and will continue to commit significant funds towards industrialisation projects which will help make us the most trusted and sustainable partner in the sky.
- Based at our Filton manufacturing site, but working across all 3 Bristol facilities, our
- **new Industrialisation Lead** will help us shape the future direction of our manufacturing business through two key focusses:
- Leading and steering the development of the Industrial strategy, following a robust framework to deploy the appropriate technologies to our multi-site operational needs, responding to current and future market changes
- Leading a multi-disciplined, process control focused, Technology and Industrialisation engineering team, co-ordinated with cross-functional, business-integrated Product Development teams (maximum 20 people, depending upon projects)

**How You'll Contribute**:

- Specifically, you will:
- Develop technical solutions to complex problems, delivering a manufacturing industrialisation system that fulfils all stakeholder requirements including Safety, Quality, Productivity, Business case, Intellectual Property and Export Control
- Identify process and technological gaps, which will drive technology development initiatives (pull) into the development of operational excellence.
- Lead engineering teams to deliver measurable, metrics driven results in line with Operational and Program goals.
- Integrate with the broader GKN technology teams through the Global Technology Centres (GTCs) to ensure that value-added Technology and Industrialisation solutions compliment operational deliverables
- Identify process and technological gaps, which will drive technology development initiatives (pull) into the development of operational excellence.
- Lead engineering teams to deliver measurable, metrics driven results in line with Operational and Program goals.
- Be responsible for the implementation of an industrial solution, from original concept through to production phase; design these processes with a high degree of process capability utilizing the GKN standard ZDM tool suite to demonstrate as such.
- Be accountable for product/process development, new product bids that involve cost estimation, schedule coordination, build process definition, and implementation
- Champion and sponsor technology insertion (with associated lead time sensitivity analysis) into the businesses that will give tangible benefits.
- Ensure resource and industrial capacity planning is in place to meet the needs of recommendations made; and, the associated roadmap is in place to deliver capacity where needed for ramp up.
- Manage the multi-site Capital Expenditure processes to align and balance the business sustainment and future growth opportunities

- Essential:
- Technical expertise in Manufacturing Engineering, with a professional qualification in engineering
- Hands-on experience within a controlled engineering environment which adheres to Zero Defects Manufacturing (AS-9145 or equivalent)
- Experience leading multi-functional engineering teams
- Experience of managing New Product / Process Introduction (industrialisation) & existing production process improvements, including management of related costs
