There is an opportunity to join a strong team and receive a sponsored Post-Graduate Training course in Mental Health, with the advantage of receiving a subsidised salary.

Successful trainees have the opportunity to join an established programme, gain valuable working experience in West London NHS Trust in dynamic Community services, and obtain a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Practice qualification from Middlesex University.

Clinical experience is provided in both hospital and community settings in a range of different mental health service.

Details

The programme length is 12 months. It is divided into 60% of time spent in clinical practice under West London NHS Trust and 40% of time is spent at Middlesex University which is based in Hendon.

The training comprises of academic work and supportive clinical practice NHS with a salary of £19,737 basic pro-rata ,Plus a High Cost Area Supplement based upon actual work location. Minimum of £4,473 pa pro-rata in an Inner London area and minimum of £3,784 pa pro-rata in an Outer London work area

Current statistics indicate 80% of our previous graduates that obtained this qualification successfully obtained permanent positions within an NHS Trust. 20% of graduates successfully pursued an advanced education qualification, including Master’s qualifications and a health care professional registration.

Requirements/criteria
- A degree with an upper-second class (2:2) or above (proof required).
- Demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for studying mental health and delivering supervised practice.
- Have a passion for the delivery of first-class care in all areas of mental health.
- Possess good communication skills (verbal/written) and a motivation to develop these and receive training in CBT, MI and person-centred care.
- Be able to work in teams in busy multidisciplinary environments across different settings.
- Be able to balance and manage academic work, clinical placements, and personal commitments.
- Be well organized, reliable, flexible, self-motivated, caring, able to adapt to demanding but rewarding work environments, and willing to experience the surprising challenges of mental health working with diversity.
