Job Title - Caretaker and Security officer

Responsible to: Operations Manager and Headmaster

Hours: Three hours per day in the evenings

**Main purpose of job**

This role will be for a person to live on site and patrol the College Grounds in the evening. The post involves locking all doors and shutting windows in the school.

Switching off any lights and portable heaters in the school

The person will be expected to respond to fire alarms during the evening and overnight as well as resetting the alarm if false and calling the monitoring centre.

This person will require the ability to work unsupervised and report their workload to the Operations Manager

**Other**: Respond to the fire alarms during the evenings

**Main purpose of role**

To provide an effective caretaking service and security during the hours of 7pm to 7am and at weekends (on a rota basis with boarding staff)

**General**: To carry out other tasks as required by the operations manager, Headmaster and senior leadership team.

To carry out the above duties in accordance with the school policies and guidelines.

Job Title: Caretaker and Security officer Desirable

**Knowledge and experience**

Essential - An understanding of the main Health & Safety regulations

Desirable - Experience of working within an educational setting. Experience of working with fire systems. Experience of securing and inspecting buildings.

**Skills and Abilities**

Essential - Ability to manage own workload by identifying high and low priority jobs.

Ability to act on own initiative and deal with any unexpected problems that arise.

Ability to demonstrate good inter-personal skills to communicate with a range of people and students.

Ability to work as a member of the school team.

**Education & Qualifications**

Essential - Numeracy, literacy and communication skills are essential.

An enhanced DBS check will be needed for this post.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: £10.42-£11.44 per hour
