Service Technician required for my client based near to Crawley, West Sussex. The client specialise within UV systems and are actively looking for someone to join their ever-growing test engineering team, as they look to continue expanding, in the near future.
The successful service technician will report to the service manager and will help with preparation and delivery of service engineering work, at the company.
The role involves a lot of travelling so you must be willing to travel significantly. Proof of working in a role previously within service and travelling both the world and the UK, is desirable.
**Service TechnicianPosition Overview**
- Given comprehensive training in production to gain knowledge of components, assembly (electrical / electronic and mechanical), repairs and refurbishments, product testing, analysis and fault finding skills.
- Accompany other experienced service technicians on installation and service jobs on site at customer premises.
- Once fully trained you will go to sites unaccompanied to carry out the full range of tasks.
- Installation of electro-mechanical industrial equipment, predominantly on to printing presses - both as new and retrofit equipment.
- Commissioning the range of products, recording the required measurements.
- Test the equipment to satisfy the customer's requirements and provide operator training.
- Customer/OEM/Distributor/staff training as required from time to time, both in house and on site in the UK and worldwide.
- The role requires significant travel around the world and the UK, with overnight stays for the week/weeks.
- Service and repair of existing systems.
- Travel in the UK and overseas worldwide working mostly alone but with support from the in-house service team.
**Service TechnicianPosition Requirements**
- Electrical Engineering City & Guilds level 1&2&3 or HNC/HND and/or 17th/18th edition, or electrical degree.
- Extensive recent experience of 3 phase industrial environments.
- Recent experience working in a field service role (could involve: commissioning, service breakdowns, installations, warranty visits etc.).
- Previous experience travelling for work.
- Must be free to travel worldwide with no restrictions.
- Must have a current manual full driving licence with no more than 3 points on.
- Knowledge of PCBs & PLCs (up-loading of programmes and interrogation of fault record for trouble shooting).
- Occasional service jobs require a 2-week scheduling.
- Out on sites 80% of the time. (Other 20% in house work).
- Based within a commutable distance of Crawley, West Sussex.
- Full UK driving licence.
**Service TechnicianPosition Remuneration**
- Basic annual salary for 39.5 hrs per week £33,000-£36,000 *staff can earn in the region of £40k once working in the field with overtime.
- In House Hours: Mon - Thu 08:00 - 17:15. Fri 08:00 - 12:30 - On Site Hours: may be considerably higher/different a per the customer/job requirement.
- O/T at 1.5 basic hourly rate (over 39.5 basic hrs per week). It is essential you are prepared to work overtime. (During the first 3-6 months of training there will be less overtime required).
- Company car, fuel card (private fuel UK only provided), AA assistance, mobile telephone, and computer provided.
- Out of pocket expenses reimbursed
- Pension upon joining the company.
- Life assurance, after qualifying probationary period (6 months).
- Private healthcare and increased pension contributions after further qualifying period (2-3 years).
- 33 days holiday, including UK Bank holidays.
- After long service holiday increases further.
