We are looking to recruit to this exciting new role within Adoption East Midlands as part of the on-going development of our commitment to adopter participation and incorporating lived experience into service development and our wider support offer.

This is a newly established post in response to the development of adopter voice participation and lived experience into our service offer.

You will be expected to work creatively alongside AEM staff to develop an adopter peer mentoring service through the recruitment, development, and support of experienced adopter peer mentor volunteers. The peer mentoring service will enable peer mentors to support adopters at different stages in their adoption journey through 1:1 work, small groups, drop-in sessions, and have a remit to diffuse adopter experience throughout the training offer within the wider service. Peer mentors will provide advice and guidance whilst acting as a positive role model for people who require their support.

You will also be responsible for supporting peer mentors to participate in service development within AEM through co-production work, positively influencing and representing the voice of adopters throughout the region.

You will be an experienced adoptive parent and committed to and passionate about peer mentoring. As our regional territory covers Nottinghamshire, Nottingham City, Derbyshire and Derby City, an ability and commitment to travel around the regional area is essential.

This will be an extremely rewarding opportunity to be part of a creative project. You will receive regular supervision, training, and the opportunity to develop your skills alongside working within a friendly and mutually supportive staff group.
