What will you be doing?
You will be based at Staplewood Training Ground located in Marchwood, Southampton. Just a 15-minute drive from the city centre and don’t worry there’s free parking
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead the coaching of the U21 team in line with the SFC Playbook.
- Lead the U21 team staff MDT on all key programme and player decisions and provide regular feedback to staff line managers on performance.
- In collaboration with the senior technical coaching group select the U21 team for the U21 games programme.
- Prepare the U21 team on and off pitch for games in line with the SFC Playbook.
- Prepare team and individual player reports for quarterly depth chart meetings, weekly senior technical coaches group meetings and the academy audit process.
- Work closely and collaboratively with the U21 team Individual Development Coach to ensure that individual player development is integrated and tracked within team sessions.
- Support the U21 team Individual Development Coach with robust player IDP’s and regular player reviews and 1-2-1’s that are evidence based against club metrics.
- Attend First team and Under 18 games, when possible, within your programme to support and integrated coaching team from under 18’s to first team.
- Organise regular formal and informal player development meetings on an individual basis following both Club direction and Premier League audit rules on the regularity of these meetings.
- Support the Player Pathways manager and Insights Manager tracking, reporting and supporting U21 Team players on loan or on international duty.
- Ensuring excellent team and individual player records are maintained aligned to SFC Playbook and our internal physical and tactical metrics.
- Be committed to personal development and CPD, delivering and attending sessions when requested by the Academy Director.
- Attend meetings where required by the Academy Director as part of the operation to support the Academy programme.
- Work within deadlines agreed with the Club and attend appropriate meetings.
- Ensure that health and safety policy and Child Protection policies are implemented.
- Responsible for both individual health & safety and that of those who you are responsible for.
- Ensure the relationship with children and adults at risk is appropriate and language, behaviour and demeanour is suitable. The Company will expect you to undertake training to ensure an understanding of best practice in relation to children and/or adults at risk.
- You will be responsible for the welfare of children in your care.
Is this you?
Essential Experience:
- Experience of working with U23 players within a category one environment.
- Experience in an elite level football environment.
Essential Qualifications:
- Five or more GCSE grades A*-C (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics or NVQ Level 2.
- UEFA A Coaching License
- The FA Advanced Youth Award
Essential Skills:
- Ability to build relationships with players assuring of confidence and trust.
- Strong collaborative leadership skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills, a team player.
- Excellent IT Skills and familiarity with scouting databases.
- Excellent organisational qualities.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines. The nature of the business means that there are significant variations in the level of activity; this requires the Job Holder to work whatever hours are needed to allow deadlines to be met.
- Trustworthy and adherence to codes of conduct, ethics, and confidentiality.
- Identifiable track record in Scouting and recruitment.
