**What you'll do**:

- Drive technology and system engineering practices into the department with passion and enthusiasm and empower development teams by bringing expertise and knowledge to help clear issues or blockers they are experiencing
- Deliver automated solutions that reduce effort required by our development teams to deliver quality business solutions
- Work on ways to automate and improve software deployments and delivery pipelines and work with all areas of UK IS South Information Systems
- Work within a vibrant development environment using a wide range of technologies residing On-Premise and Cloud.
- Architecting, building, monitoring, and maintaining the infrastructure to support delivery of our services
- Ensure all monitoring and alerting is implemented in order to provide a proactive service with minimal down-time
- Help ensure that core non-functionals especially around security, scalability, performance and reliability are met across all platforms
- Contribute to the ownership of the strategic roadmap for the current evolution of our system platforms towards cloud-based Kubernetes-controlled clusters

**What you'll bring**:

- Knowledge of Dev-Ops/SRE practices
- Experience in building solutions to empower development teams
- Being an advocate for automation of manual processes
- Discover underlying issues in all environments and have strong communication skills to be able to connect with all levels within the business.
- Achieve outcomes through collaboration, build trust with people and teams and be seen as the approachable expert
- Willingness to actively pair with other members of the team
- Desire to deliver high quality solutions
- Deep understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines (GoCD & Teamcity), Git, Automation Ansible & Terraform
- Basic principles of Networking
- Significant development / design experience in a complex multi-site, multi-technology environment
