Nottingham Children's Hospital is looking for a registered children's nurse to work across our region to provide education and support on renal replacement therapies in three children's critical care units.

Main duties of the job

Based on the Children's renal unit in Nottingham but working in regional Children's critical care units providing education and support for renal replacement therapies. This is an autonomous role working between three regional sites with opportunities to develop specialist skills in a supportive environment. Due to the proximity of the Children's Renal Unit, one extra day per week will be based on the PCCU in Nottingham to maintain critical care skills.

The Children's renal unit is based in Nottingham Children's Hospital within the Queens Medical Centre. We are the tertiary centre for the EMEESY network and we work with a large and supportive multi-professional team.

Covering three regional children's critical care units providing renal replacement therapies, this post plays an essential part in communication and provision of best practice with the different teams involved.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Work flexible hours Monday to Friday travelling between the three critical care units as required. One extra day per week will be based at the PCCU in Nottingham.

**Qualifications**:
Essential criteria
- Current 1st level NMC registration. RN (Child).
- Relevant post-registration qualification.
- Recognised teaching/assessing qualification

Desirable criteria
- Evidence of Master’s level study or willingness to undertake.
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training or willingness to undertake.

Experience

Essential criteria
- Significant post registration experience in paediatric nephrology or critical care.
- Experience of extra-corporeal therapies.
- Demonstrate professional autonomy and exhibit effective decision-making skills.
- Demonstrable experience of teaching and coaching.

Desirable criteria
- Experience of training in clinical procedures.
- Understanding of risk management/clinical governance.

Communication

Essential criteria
- Evidence of clear effective communication skills.
- Evidence of initiating and implementing change effectively in response to clinical or organisational demands.
- Able to present and receive relevant clinical information to or from a multi-professional audience.
