**About the Opportunity**

We are recruiting for an Radioactive Waste Management Strategy Team Leader to join our established Radioactive Waste Management Consultancy business. The role will be based at our Harwell Office however other locations will be willingly considered.

You will work on a diverse range of projects for waste producers, waste management organisations and strategic authorities in the UK and overseas.

Jacobs has a leading role in waste strategy, inventory and compliance underpinning the future management of radioactive waste, spent nuclear fuels and nuclear materials in the UK and overseas, working for key clients across the nuclear industry.

There are significant expectations over the next coming years concerning the decommissioning of existing nuclear plant/sites as well as the development of facilities for storage, deep geological or near surface disposal of wastes, as well as continuing support to ongoing operations. This role, within an expanding team, will support our existing business and continued strategic positioning in the radioactive waste management and disposal sectors.
We are operating under flexible working arrangements, with a mixture of office-based and home working environments.

**Key responsibilities**:
You will be responsible for winning and delivering a diverse range of desk-based consultancy projects undertaken for our clients.
- Technical leadership in a range of areas - this is likely to include:

- optioneering (BAT/BPM/BPEO)
- waste planning (waste management plans/cases, waste routing, feasibility)
- stakeholder engagement
- best practice studies
- provision of strategy input to Jacobs’ waste retrievals and decommissioning projects
- Responsibilities for management of frameworks and/or project portfolios
- Project profitability and team utilisation targets
- Production of concise and well-written technical reports and presentation of results to clients
- Developing an understanding of the underlying requirements of our clients, and how we can meet those requirements
- Bidding for and winning work, including developing business development strategies

**Here’s What You’ll Need**:

- A degree in a physical science, chemistry or engineering discipline OR equivalent training/experience
- Experience in a comparable consultancy or strategic waste management focussed role
- Ability to manage time and priorities while working on several varied projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including tailoring outputs to the requirements of different stakeholders
- Existing experience leading a multi-disciplinary team
- Formal project management qualifications
- Knowledge of the decommissioning and radioactive waste management sector
