**About the Opportunity**

You will have the opportunity to support or lead client relationships and projects, provide advice and deliver technical reports in line with client and regulatory requirements. You will also be supported to develop your skills and experience, as well as offered opportunities to build a successful career and lead technical teams.

**Key Responsibilities**:
As a Senior Waste Inventory Consultant, you will provide technical expertise on a wide variety of projects for customers including radioactive waste management organisations, radioactive waste producers and regulators, both in the UK and overseas. Work includes a wide variety of activities across the areas of integrated radioactive waste management, spent fuels and nuclear materials including:

- Developing, analysing and enhancing radioactive waste inventories for individual waste streams, including:

- critical analysis of uncertainties of input sources
- Calculating radioactive decay and ingrowth, including helium generation
- Modelling burnup of nuclear fuel
- Managing, analysing and communicating large inventory datasets (either at a site, organisation or national level) to support:

- Presentation and communication of the data
- Analysis and manipulation of datasets to explore and underpin waste management strategies
- Implementing efficient tools and routes for the robust management of data
- Producing and checking calculations, analyses and interpretation
- Production of high quality technical reports on the outcomes of your work.
- Leading interactions with clients and stakeholders
- Supporting the continued development of our business through identifying, bidding for and winning new work with new or existing clients

**Here’s What You’ll Need**:

- Degree qualification (or equivalent training and experience) in appropriate mathematical, physical science or engineering discipline.
- Numerate with excellent technical writing/reviewing skills.
- Experience in development and analysis of inventories for radioactive waste and spent fuel.
- Ability to write clearly and present complex arguments in a well-structured manner.
- Ability to construct chains of calculations that are robust and are easily checked.
- Adaptable and able to work on a variety of projects, prioritising as appropriate.
- Scientific programming (e.g. Python, Mathematica, MATLAB, FORTRAN)
- General knowledge of reactor physics and engineering - specifically how nuclear fuel behaves in a reactor and how fission and fusion processes generate radioactive waste
- General knowledge of treatment technologies that may be applied to manage radioactive wastes.
