Children's Speech and Language Assistant - 37.5 hours per week

We are seeking a passionate, innovative and motivated Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Team covering areas in West Cumbria.

Working as part of an integrated team you will be required to work under the supervision of speech and language therapists to deliver planned therapy programmes and interventions. You will work with children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs, their families and supporting agencies. You will also be required to carry-out some administration tasks and prepare therapy resources to support the wider speech and language team. You will also be required to support the development and delivery of our digital offer.

You should have experience working with children and young people, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for delivering excellent care in the heart of the community. You should have experience with IT systems, including Mircosoft packages.

Our team provide an effective system of support and supervision, which may include 1:1, pair or group supervision, as well as participation with clinical networks, mentoring and other clinical learning opportunities.

Children’s Services Directorate provides community clinical services across Cumbria, including health visiting, community children’s nursing, therapy services, sexual health services, community paediatrics, audiology.

To work as a member of the paediatric team, providing a speech and language therapy service for pre-school and school age children referred to the service.

To support the development and delivery of the service's digital offer, including social media, web pages and online workshop offer.

To promote health and reduce inequalities for children, young people, families and communities, so that they may be able to maximise their potential in terms of health, education and social well-being.

To work as a member of the integrated team for children throughout the district to ensure high quality co-ordinated patient care using a Care Aims approach.

To accept an agreed range of patients referred by a Therapist, and manage a delegated caseload, providing interventions in an appropriate environment, e.g. patient homes, special schools, child development centre.

Working as part of an integrated team you will be required to work under the supervision of speech and language therapists to deliver planned therapy programmes and interventions. You will work with children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs, their families and supporting agencies. You will also be required to carry-out some administration tasks and prepare therapy resources to support the wider speech and language team.
