If you answered “Yes,” to these questions then we have a brand new and exciting Data Protection & Information Governance Level 4 Apprenticeship opportunity within the Information Governance Service.

**About the Role**

Our Information Governance Service specialises in providing people with a high-quality Records Management, compliance and Information Rights Service.

You will help maintain and develop the council’s Electronic Document & Records Management (EDRM) system and provide practical advice and training on its use.

There will also be opportunities to assist Records Management staff in the research, creation and revision of retention and disposal schedules and to work on wider Information Governance workstreams and projects.

You will have the opportunity to be involved with gathering information and responding to Freedom of Information requests and Subject Access requests.

You will be able to gain wider information governance knowledge and experience as part of the Information Governance Service including monitoring the completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) supporting the roll out of the Data Governance System and supporting the Records Manager and IG Team Leads in the provision of Information Governance Services.

There will be the opportunity to learn from other Apprentices in Policy and Governance, which incorporates Information Governance, Legal Services, Democratic Services, HR and Property Services as part of a wider support network.

The role provides an excellent and exciting opportunity for anyone who is looking to develop their information governance, data protection, freedom of information compliance and records management skills, knowledge and experience. It also has the potential to be a gateway at the completion of your Apprenticeship to any Information Governance, Records Management, historical archival roles or wider Policy and Governance and ICT/Information Security vacancies which arise over the course of your apprenticeship.

**Skills and Experience**

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to help us achieve our drive to provide excellent service in everything that we do.

The desire to learn new processes and systems is paramount. You will have strong communication skills, a good understanding of IT systems, a passion for helping others, a flair for finding practical and pragmatic solutions to problems and a real commitment to service provision and improvement.

The ability to show empathy and patience and remain calm and tactful when dealing with multiple requests from customers is essential.

This is a demanding but varied and rewarding role but in return you will be provided with excellent direct, practical experience of working in an Information Governance Service, whilst also having the opportunity to gain knowledge of the wider County Council.

This is a Level 4 Data Protection and Information Governance apprenticeship, delivered in partnership with our specialist training providers, DAMAR Training and Act Now Training.
