Regular in-service training and supervision is provided and we would expect the post holder to take an active part in both. You would hold a caseload of cases with responsibility for the assessment and treatment under direct support from the senior therapists.
- Responsible for assessment, intervention and discharge planning of patients assigned following triage by both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.
- Gain informed consent from the patient prior to assessment, fully discussing proposed treatment, encouraging questions and giving them the choice as to whether to proceed or not. To inform supervisor of any concerns about capacity.
- Use technical and creative skills to assist in the provision of therapeutic activities for individual and groups of patients.
- Responsible for managing delegated caseload on a day to day basis including prioritisation of tasks.
- Communication, both verbal in the form of liaison with others involved in the patient treatment, and written in the form of defensible documentation.
- Participate in the education of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy students in relation to the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy process.
- Assess and prescribe equipment including walking aids and minor adaptations.
- Adhere to the code of ethics and conduct for Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy and Allied Health Professional standards of practice, as required by the team.
